CHEF’S TABLE: A Mex-Ital Fusion Dinner (Demonstration-Style)

Mexican dishes are all about ingredients, flavour and fun – so why not combine two of the worlds favourite cuisines Mexican & Italian into one.

Our Mexican-Hungarian cooking instructor, Hendrik Varju, brings you a delicious mixed menu of Mexican and Italian dishes along with a fusion of flavours in a Mexican lasagna.

Your dinner will start off with freshly fried tortilla chips and charred corn pico de gallo.  Then you’ll enjoy a Sicilian caponata with crostini, featuring eggplant, onion, garlic, tomatoes, capers, olives, basil and pine nuts.  Delicious!  From there you’ll enjoy a Mexican/Italian fusion lasagna featuring Mexican chorizo, chipotle chiles, charred poblano peppers and queso fresco, served with a simple Mexican side salad.  Then get ready for dessert with a coffee panna cotta garnished with Mexican chocolate.  If you love both Mexican food and Italian, you are going to love this class.

Meet The Instructor:  Hendrik Varju

Our Mexican-Hungarian cooking instructor, Hendrik Varju, is the author of “Mexican Dinner Parties — Complete Menus for Mexican Entertaining in Your Home”.  Hendrik learned to cook from a very young age, spending countless hours in the kitchen with his Mexican-born mother. He offers private cooking instruction in his own kitchen or yours, and his business trademark is “Preserving family traditions through cooking instruction” TM, which accurately describes his goal in the culinary world. He believes that food ties generations together and that nothing else is more important in preserving family traditions and cultures.
