Talk about love at first bite!  From the moment a macaron’s crisp meringue gives way to a delicate smooth filling, you may forget any other cookie exists.

These colorful French confections can be tricky to make, but after you master techniques from meringue making to macaronage, you’ll love creating your own macarons at home.  Baking expert and cookbook author Charmian Christie (aka The Messy Baker)  will share the secrets for incorporating seasonal flavors, piping with precision, and even achieving the perfect pied (foot). Plus, we’ll practice making wonderful fillings like ganache so you can create your own tasty variations. When you present these scrumptious and spectacular treats to friends and family, they’re sure to say “Ooh la la!”

Meet The Instructor:  CHARMIAN CHRISTIE (aka The Messy Baker)Charmian_Christie.

Charmian Christie is a food writer, recipe developer and cookbook author living just outside Ontario’s lush Greenbelt region. She specializes in approachable, inspiring, from-scratch cooking. Fresh, local ingredients — often from her garden — plenty of herbs and spices, and a bit of imagination are key. Oh, and some full-fat cream doesn’t hurt either. Although I’ve managed to turn her sweet tooth into a career move, she balances things out with healthy options such as soups and homemade salad dressings.

Her cookbook, The Messy Baker: More than 75 Recipes from a Real Kitchen, features delicious, approachable recipes that will flake, spill and drip their way across your kitchen table. It was named a Top Cookbook for 2014 by the Toronto Star, Calgary Herald and Canadian Living.

She is also a contributor to several cookbook anthologies including Allergy-Friendly Food for Families by Kiwi and Share: Delicious Dishes from FoodShare and Friends.
